Agreed with other reviewers that the base is quite a LOT, however the mid and high are quite muddy and I guess it is straight out of the box and need some burn in.
However, comparing to HD238 I think HD212 still miles behind on clarity and soundstage, except it is a closed design and works on non-ideal open environment with good sound seal.

After my HD205s broke i was heartbroken, these were the first decent headphones id invested in and what i loved in comparison to the in ear phones was the detail of the sound you got and the exceptional Bass. When they broke i was determined to find something better and bassier and i found them, high quality sound with plenty of emphasis on a powerful bass transforming my music collection.

i thought that they wont be as good as they are, the bass is out of this world,cancel all the sound from outside, can have them going full blast and the seal around the ears are so good the person next to u cant hear a thing, there so good im getting another pair for my bro, get the phone attachment as well, its well worth it

they cover the whole ear and seal it , and take the shape of the head so nothing will escape or go in , the sound is crispy , smooth with amazing base . honestly one of the best

The sound isolation on these is also amazing, in both directions, you can't hear any ambient noise, and people around you can't hear anything either.
Amazing bass, really thuds but without sounding fake, obviously designed for the dj market, can easily be driven from an ipod or other portable device but you'll notice the sound quality improve significantly when playing from a CD.
